Meet The Demo Reel

Hello, hello! Not a big fan of WordPress any more (Drupal rocks, but I digress). Click on this link to check out my on-air demo reel with more on their way! What do I dish about, you ask? The intersection of careers, lifestyle and oh yes, celebs. Here’s another – 5 ways to land a job interview. (Bad hair day, oh well.)

Naturally, the career progression of New York Yankee Jorge Posada (pre-retirement), and the divorce which shot down Kim Kardashian’s career credibility a few notches. Stay tuned for more insight and videos from this down-to-earth career maven with 15 years of HR/recruiting AND journalism experience.  Nothing stuffy or boring here, only real advice for real people. ‘Natch.

Celeb Career Chat at the 2012 Writers Guild Awards

It’s a funny thing about interviewing celebrities. I’m downright fascinated with their ability to leap with faith that the net will appear! Better yet, I’m over the moon when I get to chat with directors, producers, screenwriters: They’re my rock stars!

Enter Sunday night. At B.B. Kings in midtown the Writers Guild celebrated the annual awards ceremony with a long list of illustrious names ranging from Judd Apatow to the writers of Modern Family to writers I’ve never heard of or watched their work but people who have honed their craft and danced to their introvert’s inner beat when they really felt like playing outside. Kind of like today as my to-do list in purple ink is unmanageably long…

As I chatted with the head writer of The Colbert Report and an Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker and yes, the head writer for Sesame Street (how cool is that? Exclamation point!) there was something downright refreshing about not only hearing about their own creative process and interesting stories, but sharing mine as well.

Every now and then we need a little boost by surrounding ourselves with impeccable minds. If you haven’t been able to tap into that location or event, sometimes it’s right in front of us. For a quick shot, check out this hilarious speech by Bored to Death creator, Jonathan Ames!
